Hi Anon

Shooting pain is often related to nerve irritation, and it is not super uncommon for women to have cutaneous nerve irritation in their breasts sometimes. That being said, any time you have breast discomfort that is unusual for you or becomes chronic, it is a good idea to be checked out by your health care provider. Your body may be trying to tell you something, so don't ignore it.

Mayo has a section on breast pain that may be of help to you: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/breast-pain/DS00760.

Good luck, thank you for writing, and please let us know if you get an answer because it will help others.
