Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER.

Can you feel a lump on the outside of your left foot or is it a discomfort felt internally? Do you feel the pain when you stand, walk or is it there all the time?

Pain in the ball of the foot is called metatarsalgia. Arthritis, poor circulation, pinching of the nerves between the toes, posture problems, and various disorders cause this condition. However, most often the pain is caused by nerve damage or by an abnormality of the joints nearest the balls of the feet. These joints are the metatarsal joints.

Anonymous, since the pain persists and has worsened, please schedule an appointment with your primary care physician.

Regards,
Maryann
