About a year ago my daughter got pityriasis rosea and now she's 13 years old. She got it When she was 12. We went to the doctor, and he Said that she needed to live with it, and there was nothing we could do. There must be something, because my daughter is feeling hopeless. She got it about a hear ago, and It's still not gone. We've tried all different kinds of creames, but nothing worked. Her spots are brown and she's only a little Dark skinned. It's around her neck, arms, back, chest, and legs. I really hope you Can help.

Guide

Hello and thank you for sharing your question.

Unfortunately there is no standard treatment for pityriasis rosea because the cause is unknown.  But below I have listed some things you may want to try if you haven't already.

  • avoid overheating, and hot showers/baths
  • cool oatmeal baths may help reduce itching
  • use moisturizers or calamine lotion while skin is damp
  • use as little soaps as possible and when you do, use gentle products such as Dove or Johnson&Johnson
  • some topical steroid creams that may help are: Antibiotic Erythromycin, Zovirax, or Famvir.

I hope that you find one of these suggestions useful.
