my cycle is normally 28 days. i keep my dates written down so i know when i'm due on. i had unprotected sex about 3 times last month. My period did'nt come for 43 days instead of the usual 28.
i did'nt do a pregnancy test cause i did'nt feel pregnant. the only thing was i did get a stitch on the bottom of the right side of my stomach which i still am now on and off. i have been pregnant before but had a abortion and all the way through i had a stitch there. which i don't know if thats normal or not. but anyway my period lasted for about 3 days instead of 5. a few days later and now everytime i go the toilet my urine smells horrible and it is my urine i've checked. its not burning and i'm not going more often just the smell. then i decided to take a pregnancy test. to late i know but i just wanted to check, it came out negitive. my belly button has been leeking clear smelly fluid a few times as well. i don't know if i'm being stupid, but i don't know whats going on. does it sound like i could of been pregnant, i'm worried that if i was, what if the fetus is still inside and thats whats the smell, or am i being daft. also could my abortion i had years ago make me have a miscarriage now, please if anyone has any thoughts of whats going on

Hi Anon,

Thanks for your questions.

It is hard to know at this point if your were pregnant, it is certainly possible. Was your period heavier or more painful than normal? Aside from the stitch, are you having any abdominal pain? Are you having any vaginal discharge that is not normal for you? I suggest you visit your doctor for an evaluation.

Abortions can be linked to future miscarriages only if there is scarring in the uterus from the procedure, which is not very common these days. If you did miscarry, your doctor may order a pelvic ultrasound to detect any remaining products of conception that may be still present in your uterus.

As for your malodorous urine, urinary tract infections can often present atypically without frequency, urgency or pain. Your doctor can do a very simple test on your urine to determine if you have an infection.

Since you are having unprotected sex you should also consider being tested for STI's. I also want to urge you to also discuss birth control options with your doctor. If you are not planning on having a baby, using some form contraception is the best way to prevent an unwanted pregnancy.
