Pregnancy test accuracy

First of all I don't appreciate my question disappering from the question queue the other day. I am really stressed and scared out of mind. I'd like some peace of mind and not worry about this anymore.

Anyway I had unprotected sex on Jan 25th and took plan b the next day. My expected period was supposed to be Feb 24th and I took a pregnancy test that resulted negative. My period hasn't come yet. I am fully aware that plan b delays periods but I'd like to know can I trust the test so I can stop worrying about possible pregnancy. I work in an environment that's not friendly to developing fetuses. Thank you

Hello Anonymous,

I am sorry to hear that your initial question disappeared from the queue and was unanswered.
I can appreciate your concerns and the importance of knowing whether or not you are pregnant.

Plan B contains high levels of progesterone. Taking Plan B creates a hormonal imbalance in your body. It works primarily by preventing ovulation. That is why some women experience menstrual cycle changes, including a delay in the start of their period.

It is now one month since you took Plan B. You have not had a period. I suggest you schedule an appointment to have a blood pregnancy test. A blood hCG test is more accurate than a urine test.

With a definitive answer, concerns will be eliminated and you can get on with your life.
