Question for my mother

Hi, Couple months ago my mother had hernia surgery and after awhile she started having hair loss. Everyday she sees her hair is falling out. Her scalp is also filled with huge chunks of dandruff and she tried dandruff shampoo but doesn't see relief. Is their something specific she should do or see a certain doctor for it?

Thanks,
Melissa

Hi Melissa,
Your mother should first contact her medical doctor. He or she will need to examine her scalp. She may be referred to a dermatologist. It sounds like something more than dandruff because dandruff doesn't cause hair loss.
