We are trying to have another baby. My period is due on the 12th (my period is very regular) and sunday morning i woke up and was bleeding shortly after the severe cramps began. (Towards the end of the day they seemed to be coming from my right side) the bleeding isnt light but isnt heavy either. Cramping went away the next morning. Do you think it could be an early miscarriage?

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Symptoms of a miscarriage include:

Bleeding which progresses from light to heavy

Severe cramps

Abdominal pain

Fever

Weakness

Back pain

Since your period is not due, it can possibly be a miscarriage. But other conditions can also cause cramping and bleeding. It’s important to let your OBGYN know of your symptoms. He might perform a pelvic exam and an ultrasound test to confirm a miscarriage. If the miscarriage is complete and the uterus is empty, then no further treatment is usually required.

Best,

Daisy
