I am 41 and I have 2 kids, both were c-sections. I was not able to breastfeed. I had HELLP syndrome with my 1st child and I did try but the milk never really came in. I think the milk did come in after my2nd, but I was stuck in the hospital for a few days with blood pressure and heart issues at the time, so again, no breastfeeding. A year after my 2nd child, I had a thick white, waxy discharge from one nipple. It was painful and I noticed the white spot so I squeezed it and about a 1" strand of this discharge came out from a duct along with a bit of blood at the end of it. I told my Dr. about it and had a mamogram done that showed nothing abnormal. He said it was most likely a clogged milk duct, nothing to worry about. Ever sice then, I still have a tiny bit of the same white stuff in a couple of milk ducts, no more blood though. My latest concern has been pains in my breasts. Mostly they occur in my right side. Sometimes it's a diagonal pain that goes from the lower breastbone up to the nipple, other times it's just a needle-sharp pain in the nipple itself. The pain in the left breast is less often and it goes from the lower armpit area up to the nipple. This is really causing me lots of discomfort and I'd love to know what is going on? I did just see a GYN and she didn't offer any ideas yet. I have a mamogram scheduled in a few weeks. Advil doesn't seem to help with the pains at all. Thank you for any advice you may have.

What you are experiencing may be related to your menstrual cycle, if your doctor has determined it's not an infection. Have you noticed when in your cycle you get this pain? How persistent is it, and how bad is the pain on a scale of 1-10 (1="feel great", and 10="have to go to the hospital")?
