I had Pink Eye about a week ago but it's gone now. My doctor told me to throw away all the eye makeup I used when I had pink eye. I don't want to get pink eye again, but my makeup is really expensive and I don't want to throw it out. Do I need to throw away my makeup if I had pink eye?

Hello Lindsay,

Yes!

Pink eye, also known as conjunctivitis, is one of the most common eye conditions in children and adults. It is an inflammation of the conjunctiva, the thin, clear tissue that lines the inside of the eyelid and the white part of the eyeball. This inflammation makes blood vessels more visible and gives the eye a pink or reddish color.

Viruses, bacteria, allergens and Irritants (like smog or swimming pool chlorine) that infect or irritate the eye and eyelid lining are the four main causes of conjunctivitis.

You could potentially re- infect yourself by using your old eye makeup.I realize it was expensive, but isn't your health more valuable?

Regards,
Maryann
