Hello ALynnV,

Thank you for visiting the EmpowHER community and for sharing your question about your shoulder. I am sorry to hear that you are having pain after sleeping wrong.

A doctor would only be able to tell if you actually damaged something by taking an X-ray or MRI.

It could be a number of things causing the clicking, but the first thing that comes to mind is a rotator cuff issue or shoulder arthritis. It could also be a pinched nerve causing the pain. Apply ice for 20 minutes, then remove the ice. Do this several times during the day and take Acetaminophen as prescribed on the label for pain.  You can take aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen to help decrease inflammation.

If the symptoms don't get better or get worse, you should call your doctor to have him or her examine you.
ALynnV, did this help?
Best,
Kristin
