last night i noticed that the skin on my vulva is peeling off. i freaked out because i have no idea why it's happening. lately i've been experiencing itching on my labia majora too and im considering as a factor the pad that i used when i had my period. it was a cheaper brand so maybe the materials used arent that good. hygiene is not a problem here coz i make sure that i clean. i apply petroleum jelly on the affected sides hoping for it to heal. what could be the problem and how can i cure this?

Hi Anon,

Thanks for your question. If you're having itching/burning in your vaginal area you need to see a doctor to treat you for it. Although it may be possible that the chemicals in your sanitary pad caused an irritation, cleanliness may have nothing to do with it and you could be developing a yeast infection. In fact, being too clean can sometimes result in a yeast infection. Your OB/GYN can diagnose your problem and treat you for it. The longer you wait, the worse it can get.

Keep us posted!
