Last month I had a 2 week late period which has never happened to me before, it was extremely painful and a lot heavier than normal. Ever since this I am still experiencing sharp cramping.

Guide

Hello butterfly38,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for reaching out to us with your question regarding the differences in your last period.

May I ask, how old are you? Have you ever been told that you have uterine fibroids or ovarian cysts?

Is the sharp cramping constant or does it come and go? Is is above the bellybutton or below?

Have you noticed any changes in your bowel habits, such as onset of constipation or increased bloating?

Consider contacting your gynecologist. I am concerned about the sharp cramping and heavier than normal menstrual flow. With a physical exam and any necessary diagnostic testing such as an ultrasound, your doctor can make a diagnosis.

Regards,
Maryann
