Hi Mz_undefeated
Love your username!
Stretch Marks, or Striae-- as unsightly and irritating as they may be to us, are usually here to stay. When they first appear, they are usually red to purplish in color and have a tendency to fade over time. Some people feel that there are creams and treatments out there that can sometimes help lighten them up but I, personally, don't feel comfortable recommending products that are generally overpriced and not proven to work. By keeping your skin well hydrated and losing/gaining weight at a steady, not rapid pace you can help prevent any more stretch marks from appearing.
I'm glad you describe your weight loss as a journey-- because it is quite a journey indeed and a rewarding one at that! There's no denying that at the end of your journey you may end up with a few more stretch marks than you started with but you'll also be healthier and definitely happier! One way I keep myself motivated to stay on track and not stray away from my eating habits is to
remember that ice cream, cookies, chips, and fast foods all give you nothing but a temporary high-- and the more I eat it, the worse I feel-- both physically and mentally. A weekly reward for eating so well and exercising like you should is also a great incentive to keep going. On Sundays give yourself a reward--whether it is a small slice of cake, a couple of cookies, or an ice cream cone-- but do not stray from your long-term goal. Monday morning, you go back to eating healthy and eagerly await for the following Sunday to come along for that next reward.
As far as exercise, if you can get a gym or workout buddy-- do it! There is nothing greater than to have that second person give you that "push" you need on a day you're not feeling like you can exercise or eat right. One thing I've picked up lately is signing up for 5k, 10k, and half-marathon races. It's a great way to keep you on your toes :)
Always remember that you have a goal and the only thing standing between you and that goal is yourself.
All the best!
