Sudden change in menstrual cycle

I normally have a 27-28 days menstrual cycle. This march the ED was 11th but it came two days ahead on the 9th. I had unprotected sex with my boy friend on the 6th and 13th day. There might have had been some amount of accidental ejaculation. I started bleeding on the 16th day which continued for 4.5 days like a normal period, albeit a little light blood. i had stomach cramps on the 2nd day as is usually the case. Now am in a fix. Could you possibly tell me the reasons for this ?

Hi,

Are you saying that you had a regular menstrual period that began on March 9th (how long did it last?), and then another menstrual period that began on March 16th (and lasted 4-5 days?)

You may want to look at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) online pamphlet on Abnormal Uterine Bleeding, which is defined as, "abnormal bleeding is any bleeding that happens in the following situations, including bleeding between periods."

There are so many possible causes, and without knowing your age, I can only list possibilities: everything from fibroids to medication to hormonal changes.

Do you have an gynecologist that you see on an annual basis? I would make an appointment with a doctor, and they can check for any hormone fluctuations. Many women have abnormal bleeding at least once in their lifetime, so don't worry, but please make an appointment to find the cause.
