Venous lake on my lip

I have this dark blue/purple lesion on my lip that keeps getting bigger. I went to see the dermatologist and she said that it's a venous lake. She said it was nothing I had to worry about. Does anyone else have one or know of someone who does? If so, what was your/their treatment?

P.S. I know that it is possible for the Venous Lake to reappear..but I am just glad that it has been off my lip for 2 months now...it was big and purple and was starting to be painful, I hope that any information that I given you has been helpful...Good Luck !!

I think it has been about 6 months since I last posted. Here is what I've done. 1st doc tried to freeze it with some kind of freezing torch. Very painful but pain is gone in 1 day. No improvement. 2nd doc told me to put Vaseline on it regularly. Does help, but does not make it disappear just keeps it from breaking open. 3rd doc used a IPL laser on it 2x's. Did reduce the size, but still exists but feels less volatile (does not feel like there is a heart beating on my lip anymore). It is stable now and a little smaller. Has anyone used a different laser that worked better?

I too was told that I have a venous lake condition on my lip about 5 years ago. Although from time to time it tingles, it has caused me no problem, nor has it gotten any larger (thank goodness). When asked if I could have it removed, the doctor told me that my insurance would not cover the cost (~$1,500)! He told me that would buy a lot of lipstick and also not to worry.

I had one on my lip. The doc put a topical solution on it (to freeze it) and it was gone in 3 weeks.
Took her less than 2 minutes to analyze and treat.

Same here! Noticed about 2 months ago and recently a nurse friend suggested that I have it checked. Dr. said no worry and the laser to correct could be worse than leaving it as is.

I had one on my lower lip and had it removed seven years ago. My specialist cauterized it, I had a tiny scab for a couple of days and then it left just a tiny little blue mark. Over the years it has started to bulge out again and so I am going to see the same specialist again. I was not interested in surgery, it sounded like a big deal going in from the back and so I rejected that option.

Hi everyone - It's been a year now since Island Girl first posted her ASK about the venous lake on her lip. I'm sure during that time some of you have had some new developments. Did you have surgery? What type? How did it work for you? How are you doing today? We'd love to get your updates so that everyone can share this information. Thanks! Pat
