A 46 year old friend of mine has been being treated with this for the last 4 years for RA. She said it was a Cancer drug. Do you have any information on this drug or anyone that has used it?
Thank you

Hi Anon - Rituxin is the brand name for the drug Rituximab. The primary use is as a cancer medication that interferes with the growth of cancer cells and slows their growth and spread in the body.
Rituxan is used in combination with other cancer medicines to treat non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. It is also used in combination with another drug called methotrexate to treat symptoms of adult rheumatoid arthritis. Rituxan is also used to treat chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).
Rituxan has multiple side effects, and you can learn more about those here: http://www.drugs.com/sfx/rituxan-side-effects.html
Do you have specific concerns about your friend? Is she having trouble with side effects from this drug? Or, are you thinking that you would like to take this drug for RA? Please let us know how we can help you.
Thanks, Pat
