The Dr. has put me on dexilant, gasx, milanta, tums etc. and it has helped the bad feeling in the chest but the sickening taste is driving me crazy. I believe the other will continue to improve if I can just get rid of this terrible taste. I am female, 77yrs.old and do not have a gallblatter. Please if you or any one has a suggestion, please let me know. Thank You Very Much (I do still have some churning in the top of my stomach.)

Hi Tod - Yes, that burning sensation in the chest which is one of the main symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) (also known as heartburn) is pretty awful. The flow of stomach acid into the esophagus which causes the sickening taste is hard to take too.

We have a number of suggestions in our GERD section. You may have tried some of them but some of them may be new. https://www.empowher.com/condition/heartburn-gerd/treatments

Some people report success with natural remedies such as eating a apple in the evening before turning in for the night or mixing together apple cider, vinegar and honey. Here's additional information on natural remedies: https://www.empowher.com/heartburn-gerd/content/heartburn-how-can-i-avoid-and-what-are-some-natural-remedies-dr-weil

Hope that helps! Pat
