Burning from above hip to knee

Hi, Anon.

Thank you for writing.

A painful, burning sensation on the outer side of the thigh may mean that one of the large sensory nerves to your legs--the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve is being compressed. This condition is known as meralgia paresthetica. Pain on the outer side of the thigh, occasionally extending to the outer side of the knee. I can't know if this is what you have, of course. See your doctor who might refer you to an orthopedic doctor if necessary, depending on his evaluation.
