Vitamin D deficiency is caused by a lack of sunlight and lack of added vitamin D in food. Eggs yolks and certain fish also contain the vitamin.
Daily sunlight of at least 20 minutes, as well as taking foods (dairy/cereals) or supplements fortified with Vitamin D, can help.
