What is this discharge?

Help!! Recently I had the craziest itch down around my vulva in addition to swelling and soreness , immediately I thought it was a yeast infection and headed to the OB. After processing a culture he let me know that there isn't much yeast and isn't cause for concern BUT gave me a one night applicator filled with cream, and used it that night. The soreness and swelling subsided BUT I still have a mild itch and tissue like residue or discharge around the vulva and even inside the clit hood. I have no idea what it is and don't know if to be highly concerned.

Ps - the tissue like discharge can be white or dark brown and looks like wet tissue that you rubbed between your hands and is all torn and rolled up

Hello Alexandra,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. Thank you for reaching out to us.

Did your gynecologist actually tell you what type of bacteria was seen on the culture?

What is the name of the prescribed cream?

Were you told how long before all symptoms would be relieved?

Consider calling the office, speak with the gynecologist, report your remaining symptoms and get any questions answered.

Regards,
Maryann

Hello Maryann thank you so much for your response and he did not specify to any bacteria he just notified me that there wasn't much yeast and that by taking the cream I would feel a lot better. He did also ask if I felt the symptoms outside or inside and It's definitely outside. The name of the medicine is Gynazole
