I had breast cancer surgery and after the radiation they want me to take this, what I have read as side affects are not good.

Hopefully someone that has used this treatment drug can share in their experience with you. Drugs.com always provides great information regarding possible side effects which you can read more about here http://www.drugs.com/pro/tamoxifen.html.
Personally, I asked my Mom about this as she had ductal carcinoma as well and she didn't have too many side effects although each person is different. Talk to your physician about your concerns.
