44 Year old female. Progesterone level is 0. Estradiol level 980. Have had burning in left breast and found lump. Mammogram and Ultrasound results are not back yet. Is an elevated Estradiol level indicative of a particular condition or problem? What about when its combined with breast lump?

Hi Anonymous,
Thank you for your question and for finding EmpowHER. We are not doctors, so you should definitely ask these things of your gynecologist. Elevated estradiol levels can indicate any number of conditions, from insulin resistance, to heart disease, to kidney problems. It also can be caused by being overweight, digestive problems, birth control pill use, etc. Have you been diagnosed with perimenopause? Are you experiencing any other symptoms?
It sounds like you already are working with your doctor, so make sure to stay on top of it, and if you find something that doesn't make sense, let us know and we'll try to help you figure it out.
In the meantime, here is an article that may help you to better understand hormones and their function: Women's Hormones: What Do They Do?
Good luck and let us know how you're doing.
