Hello everyone,

I'm working on a couple of blogs on laughter therapy and the benefits of laughing for your health and I'd love to know a book, movie, TV show, or something that makes you laugh so we can put some of them in the blog and can start a laughter therapy library for all of EmpowHer's women.

For me, I love reruns of I Love Lucy! There are other shows that make me laugh too but Lucille Ball never fails to make me crack up.

So...what makes you laugh?

Michelle, this is so true! Norman Cousins wrote a book about the effect of laughter in his own healing from a deadly illness: "The Anatomy of Disease". He used to watch the Three Stooges and other similar movies while he recovered in the hospital for several months. This was back in the 60s when there were no DVDs. My family enjoys watching funny movies over and over again. We laugh so loud that we cry each time...In no particular order, my daughter's top 10 choices:

1. Spies Like Us - Chevy Chase and Dan Akroyd
2. Blades of Glory - Wil Ferrel and Jon Heder
3. Zoolander - Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson
4. Anchorman - Wil Ferrel and Christina Applegate
5. Spinal Tap - Fake documentary about a British Band
6. Fletch - Chevy Chase
7. The Producers - both versions
8. Blues Brothers
9. Airplane 1
10. Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines

Laughter Yoga is also very good therapy. Here is the website for an international organization that promotes laughter yoga. http://www.laughteryoga.org/ We have tried this at the Chopra Center when they have their annual gathering. They have a children version too.

I find many excuses to laugh. Just watching the dogs fight or thinking about a funny circumstance in my life. Today my husband was trying a new communication device that works with the blinking of his eyes. But in order to get it working he needed to calibrate the blinking with the software. The computer had a little screen with two white circles that were moving in different directions, once the technician told me that those were my hubby's eyes according to the software interpretation, I started to laugh as they looked like two bouncing white balls. The white balls were not perfectly straight, so one was higher than the other, it caused me to laugh so loud that my husband started laughing too...it was funny (I am laughing as I post this)

I don't think you have "excuses" to laugh, I think you have reasons. We don't need excuses to do something so natural, uplifting, stress-relieving, whatever. I think laughter is the best natural impulse that brings more people together than, well, sex, LOL!

I'm trying to envision your hubby trying to calibrate those white circles, too funny!

It could be the silliest thing, or hearing a baby laugh (I love tiny giggles). It could be my dog's expression (I don't know what you're saying, I didn't do it, just feed me). It could be something I said that started a group of us in a meeting laughing so hard we were in tears...and I can't even remember what it was.

I find our politics laughable, and the 3-letter news shows. I don't really need a movie to make me laugh, life is funny enough.

My hubby makes me laugh, he has a quick wit and terrific sense of humor...usually, LOL! Plus, if you can't laugh at yourself, life is much too serious for you.

I recently just started reading Chelsea Handler's book, "Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea".

It is hilarious! If you enjoy watching her E! show, Chelsea Lately, you will LOVE this book. Her writing is witty and fun. You will literally laugh out loud.
