Hello. Thank you for posting.
It's not uncommon for a body part to go numb after staying in the same position for a long time, whether sitting or standing. This can be just the result of the excess pressure placed on the nerve. Other causes can be back trauma, a herniated disk in the spine, or a mass (such as infection or a tumor).
When are the legs purple and blotchy? All the time? Only at particular times? Is this a new problem or a problem that has been present for a long time? Is there any leg pain?
Are you on any medication or do you have any other chronic health problems? It may be caused by poor circulation, but we cannot know. See your doctor who will likely ask these questions and examine your legs for proper diagnosis.
