When will my cycle return?

I had a miscarriage on May 25th which started MAy 14th. I was expected to be 7 weeks but I feel I was further. It has been 6 weeks since I last bled. Is something wrong? I am 35 and have 6 children and this is my 1st official miscarriage

Hi Anon,
Have you been to your Gynecologist after your miscarriage? You said it has been 6 weeks since you last bled (from your miscarriage), but you did not mention when your last menstrual period began. It is important to know if your uterus is back to pre-pregnancy size, and if your hormones are back to their pre-pregnancy levels...do you know this information?

It can take your body a few cycles to get back to your previous regular cycle, and it is important that your doctor knows of any symptoms you are having.

Was that your only question: when will your cycle begin? We are happy to answer any additional questions you have, since your period may be irregular (unpredictable) for a few cycles.

Alison, I have been keeping track of my basal temperatures. I do know with that information that I did NOT ovulate the 1st month after the m/c however charting the 2nd month (minus the cycle) I found a pattern that suggests I did indeed ovulate the 9th of July. It is still early so I may not actually have a period until later. I did see my doctor for a follow up appt and he told me everything is fine and I can ttc as as possiable. I did take a pg test on June 22 and that was - I also just took one July 19th and it to was - so I am sure my levels are down and my body is just trying to adjust.
To be more accurate I actually m/c May 21 and continued to bled until the 25th of MAy. I started bleeding MAy 14th. nothing since. I think I just need more time. thank you for all your comments.

Thank you for writing back with more information.

This makes sense...you have not had any bleeding in June or July, and have had negative pregnancy tests and the "OK" from your doctor that your levels are normal. Your basal temperature tracking suggested that you most likely ovulated on July 9th, but did not have a period afterwards. I'm sorry---this does sound very frustrating.

Your body may need another month to become regular again, unfortunately. I am happy to hear that you are continuing to see your doctor, and we hope to hear from you in August to let us know if your period began, if you have a positive pregnancy test, or if you talk with your doctor again.

I wish you the best!

I really Sorry to hear about your miscarriage.I know that must have been really hard for you.I am happy to hear you have 6 children. What a Blessing! It can take your body a little bit to adjust to the trama it has went through. The amount of stress you have been through could definately cause your period to be late or missed as well.Don't worry.Your period should come soon enough.I pray all goes well for you : )
