Why am I having post menopausal spotting/bleeding?

I am 52 years old. I have not had a menstrual cycle since April 2017. But last week I experienced some white discharge from ovulation and had some premenstrual symptoms such as breast tenderness. This weekend I encountered some spotting/bleeding and a little cramping. What is going on?

Hello Anon

Thank you for writing!

A woman is considered through with menopause if she hasn't had a period (or any bleeding) in 12 consecutive months. Since you are 15 months in, have this bleeding checked by your doctor.
The cause could be some kind of reproductive disorders, including fibroids or cysts, or some other reproductive concern.
Best,
Susan
