Why do I cry all the time?

I'm almost 40yrs old and I'm either angry or crying most of the time. I would love to say it's perimenapause but it's been going on since I was a teenager. It seems to be getting worse and I'm at the end of my rope with confusion. I will try almost any suggestion except more antidepressants. I haven't found any that really work unless it's those that make me just not care about anything at all. I want to feel joy again!

Hi Anonymous,
Thank you for being here, and for your question.
Dealing with ongoing depression can be harrowing. And antidepressants often don't help--they can just numb you out. We are not doctors or therapists here, so we can only give suggestions, to inspire and support you. Wanting to change your outlook is a great place to start. Capitalize on that, and you can use it to help put the wind in your sails toward finding joy in 2011. I personally know how bewildering it can be to consider turning 40. I'm turning this year too! There is a great group here that may help to serve as an inspiration: Over 40 group: So does it?
And here is an article that may be of interest: 40 is the new 30
Finally, here is one that particularly may be of interest: 5 Goals For Women with Depression for the New Year
Good luck, and let us know how you are doing and what you think about these articles--hope they are helpful. If not, let us know how else we may be able to help you.
