Hello Anon

Thank you for writing!

As you know, smoking causes all sorts of damage to the body and the lungs/throat are particularly affected by the smoke itself. You may have a lung infection or your body may simply be reacting to the long term inhalation of smoke, causing severe coughing. This kind of coughing can cause pain in the ribs, as the body inhales and exhales deeply. In severe cases, lungs can even fracture!

You said you were "coughing plea...." so if you can let us know what you meant to say, we can help you further.
Since this has been going on for three days now, you need to seek medical help if you don't see any improvement soon.
Best,
Susan
