There could be many reasons:
1. Your position may make it awkward to reach that far, at an angle that is comfortable for insertion. You could be tugging too hard, or inadvertently putting pressure on one side of your vagina that could cause discomfort.
2. You may not have enough lubrication, and can use lubrication bought at a store
3. You may be hitting your hymen, if it is still intact
4. Fingernails?
The list could go on. I'm not really sure why you are concerned by this...do you think there is something physically wrong with your vagina?
Many women do not masturbate by inserting their fingers into their vagina (probably because it is awkward to reach all the way down there!), and your clitoris is actually even more sensitive than your vagina. Many women will masturbate by stimulating their clitoris (manually, or with a vibrator or running water in the shower/tub).
