Why is my period so light?

My period is normal every month and last for 5 days. But I got mine on Wednesday and it is very light. There wasn't enough to even hit my pad. It lasted for 24 hrs. I had my tubes clamped back in 2013.

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to Empower and thank you for seeking our advice with your concern about a very light period.

A tubal ligation does not cause hormonal changes or menstrual changes.

It is possible to become pregnant following tubal ligation. The failure rate is low at 2-10/per 1,000 women. There is no 100% guarantee for any form of tubal ligation. There is a high risk for an ectopic pregnancy should you become pregnant following a tubal ligation.

I am concerned that the very light bleeding, which started on Wednesday, might indicate that you are pregnant. A very light period is one sign of a tubal or ectopic pregnancy.

Please call your gynecologist today.

Regards,
Maryann
