why my shoulder STILL hurts after 2010 flu shot

I am also a physician who got my flu shot at Walgreens administered by a pharmacist. The shot hurt immediately and I had throbbing pain and decreased range of motion for days. It has been 3 weeks and although it is much better, I still have pain and limitations. I am surpirsed to see how many others have similar complaints. My shot was also high and perhaps into the joint. Next year, I will have the Flu Mist for sure. I agree that a child could not handle this pain. I will ensure that any future immunizations are given lower in the muscle.

I am relieved to hear that I am not alone if suffering persistant pain after getting my flu shot at Walgreens last October. My situation is identical to the other comments on this topic: The shot itself did not hurt at all. Then, starting about a day later it really started to hurt. It's now been three months. The pain shoots up and down my arm and shoulder. I thought I may have pulled a muscle lifting weights. At night I can hardly sleep. Does anyone have any ideas?

I am w/ u, Pat- and thanks to yr earlier comments at me :) To every anon and member, u r so NOT alone; that fle shot was just messed up. I think, we r all just lucky to have found this site and not felt we r to believe we r all nuts. I am now 2-3 weeks free of that aghast pain: I "OW!" and "OUCHED!" everytime my shoulder moved-- day or night. Try massaging the area w/ yr other hand-- slow, gentle while watching TV. I had my jab over 6 weeks ago, and at the time it was fine, but over the next week or so i started to have muscle pain in tho top of my left arm and now can hardly use my arm, even putting a coat on or lifting shopping is really painfull and hard to do, dont know if its the flu jab or not bt seems odd, i cant sleep on my left side, havnt seen my dr about this, thought he would not believe me

I am thankful to this forum (I had previously posted anonymously as I have a hard time navigating on this site) ... I posted back on 12/15/10 re. the shoulder pain I've had for since August 30th. Someone recommended ART (active release therapy). I had an amazing massage session with someone who combines several techniques including Trager and Deep Tissue work instead. It was brilliant and really released a lot of the pain! He told me that I'm holding my arm in a tense way, as it is trying to "protect" the area that's sustained the injury. I am trying to keep the movements "soft" in that arm & doing some of the gentle stretching/motion exercises shown to me. I plan to go back for a follow up session. It has been a month today that I got my flu shot. The pain in my shoulder seems to be getting worse and not better...making it scarey. It hurts to even comb my hair or to put a coat on. My arm is also getting weaker. I called the company who gave me the shot and they said I needed to move my shoulder more. I am a bartender and worked a 10 hour shift the night of the injection. So, thats not the case. I went to my Dr. and he took xrays and basically thought I was crazy. But, hearing all the other people who have had the same problem has been a real relief. I found out that the companies who do the injections are resonsible for all doctors appointments related too the injection. I too, can not afford any expensive medical treatments.

There is a form to fill out that helps the government to track such injuries. Everyone should fill it out and send it in.
Would like to know if anyone is pain free at this time? And if so, how long did it take? Sure would like to see "the light at the end of the tunnel".
