Ok, so I'm 17 and I started taking birth control in July of 2008, i started off with Yaz then switched to Levora about 6 months ago. I just started a new pack on Friday July 24. When i went on a trip i forgot to take my pack with me and i missed two pills- sunday and monday. today, i took my pill at my normal time. i keep reading that i need to take two today and two tomorrow but i already took one today at my normal time. what are my chances of getting pregnant since i missed two in the first week?

December 14, 2010 - 11:10amjust cant stop panicking..my doctor had said to me when i got the emergency pill that if i dont get my period within 5 days of my last pill to come back..but alot of people i have asked have said they were often a week late from the morning after pill.i have pain like my period is coming and got a few dots yesterday but still nothing. a friend said that because i didnt take the morning after pill the day after i am at risk?

You should call your doctor, and let him/her know that your period did not begin 5 days after taking your last pill.
Emergency contraception can cause a delay in period (usually up to one week), and the side effects are included on the prescription pamphlet.
Since you are experiencing probably pre-menstrual pain and had some spotting, it does sound like your period would be starting soon!

December 14, 2010 - 10:42ami forgot to take 2 pills in the first week.i am on yasmin..i took one the next day and had unprotected sex that night..i took 2 pills the next day to make up for it..but was so scared..so got the morning after pill at around 56 hours after intercourse..i finished out the pack of my pill..and 4 days on..still no period.
im stressed about it so maybe this could stop my period from coming??is this normal?
i need to put my mind at ease!!

Emergency contraception can cause a delay in your period, and if you are wanting your mind at ease, you can take a home pregnancy test to know if you are pregnant or not. It is unlikely that you would be, since you still had taken birth control before having sex, but missing 2 pills consecutively can decrease its effectiveness.

July 21, 2010 - 6:45amI was half way through my pack when i went away and forgot my pill so I ended up having my period early. When I came back I started the new pack as normal and the day after my period finished I had sex and the following day also. Is there any chance I could be pregnant?

hi i thought id reply as came on my period !! very pleased as im not ready to be a mother yet just goes to show missing pills doesnt necceseraly mean ur pregnant was very late on my period mind didnt come on till this morning , i suppose i was lucky as all it took was to miss another pill will be very careful in future as have been very worried past couple of weeks thanks for your help

i dont want to have to RETYPE everything i typed in the question i sent to alison. but in small form: i have two kids, i had mirena and it was not working out for me, i got it removed and went back on the pill. im a VERY busy girl, i go to school full time and my husband works 12 hr shifts everyday so i take care of my kids pretty much on my own too. so therefore the pill isnt the best thing for me. i started my pack on the 25th of April Sunday, the first pack since i got my mirena removed. i took pill #6 and #9 like seven hours late. but i still took them. then this weekend with mothers day adn all i got soooo distracted, i missed pills #12, #13, #14, & #15. my phamplet says to throw the pack out after three missed pills, which puts me at missing 5 pills overall, my husband and i NEVER use backup birth control and im sooooo scared that baby #3 is on the way, i NEED HELP! i need to know what my chances are, my doctor isnt much help in this area. she said to just wait a week since my pills were missed recently.. but i cant wait, i need to know how likely it is!!!!!

Hi,
Since you have missed four pills in-a-row, it is important to throw away the pack and start a new pack, while using back-up protection for the next 7 days.
Did you have unprotected sex since missing pill #12-#15? If you have had unprotected sex within the last 120 hours, you can take emergency contraception (Plan B).
Anytime you miss pills, you increase your chance of pregnancy. The pill is 99% effective at preventing pregnancy when taken correctly and consistently. The more pills you miss, and the more times you have unprotected sex, the more likely your chances of pregnancy are. I'm so sorry there isn't an exact percentage or likelihood, but you will need to wait until your next expected period to see if you are pregnant or not. I'm so sorry...I know this isn't what you want to hear, but it takes a woman 10-14 days to even become pregnant after ovulating (and having sex), so that's why a pregnancy test would not even detect a pregnancy until a few weeks after sex..about the time of an expected period.

i did have unprotected sex the whole time just about everyday. even when i took my pills late and when i missed 12 13 and 14
May 12, 2010 - 6:32pmand its been way over 72 hours, so i cant take th plan B pill. i didnt plan on a straight answer. my expected period from the pills would be in about three to four days. id just really like to know how HIGH my chances are. i started my pill on the 25th of april and we had unprotected sex just about everyday after that up until about 2 days ago..
