I have experienced problems with depression for the last 10 years. At times well controlled with medication. However in the last 2 years I have experienced severe problems with anxiety. I and my psychiatrist attributed this problem to stress I was experiencing with my son and his family. In addition to the anxiety I experienced problems with diarrhea, bloating, gas and abdominal pain. I did not speak to my Dr. about this as I felt it was most likely related to my stress and problems with anxiety.
I would be very interested in hearing from anyone else who has exprienced a similar situation.

thank you for responding to my post Pat and for the information.
January 13, 2011 - 9:06pmNo it was not difficult for me to change my diet. I think because I was experiencing such terrible anxiety, and my general health was so poor that I felt it was at least worth a try. The improvement in my general health, the total disappearance of my anxiety within 2 weeks of changing has convinced me that it is worth it to stay on this eating program. I really do not even think of it as a diet.
The second thing is that it is so much easier today to buy gluten free products and even in my area there are restaurants that feature gluten free menus. You really do not have to feel as if you are being deprived of anything. The taste of some gluten free products I find is different from regular products. It is not horrible though and I have gotten used to it quickly.
