I came across this info on the web put out by the National Healthy Nail Salon Alliance (had no idea there was such a thing!) that is sponsored by some great organizations. There is info about what brands of nail polish do not contain toxins and which ones you should avoid. Here's the url:

I don't often polish my nails (I usually keep mine cut very short), but when I do, I use a brand on the "free-3" list.
What caught my attention is that one of the founders of the Alliance is made up of Pacific Asians. I wonder if it's because there are so many manicurists among this ethnicity (I'm Pacific Asian).

Yes, you're right about that. That organization is very concerned about making sure the work environment at nail salons is safe, and there are many Asians who work at salons, so they advocate on their behalf.
