I had my thyroid retested last week and the good news is that my TSH level has dropped! It is now 2.67. I am on a thyroid support supplement now, and it seems to be working. I was worried I might have to start thinking about alternatives such as Armour Thyroid, so I am pleased with these results.

I woke up after a hysterectomy operation, turned on my phone & there was a message from my doctor saying I have an overactive thyroid, this was 3 months ago. I was given carbimazole, getting up to 20mg daily, Ive been feeling so sick and cannot go out because I keep heaving. Ive stopped the carbimazole for 10 days & my gp has given me some pills for sickness. I feel constantly hungry but am finding it difficult to eat food without feeling extremely sick. I dont know if its because of my thyroid or my hysterectomy. Ive lost lots of weight and I am small framed anyway so I am feeling weak and miserable, I think my thyroid was 19. Can anybody tell me if this is very high and any advice would be appreciated. I am 44. Thankyou, Sue

Despite new range for TSH , some old-school doctors are not willing to start treatment until TSH is above 10, regardless of symptoms. Make sure that the TSH is more or less stable, not jumping between 0.4 and 4.

I am feeling a little better. My doctor says that is a really good level. There is debate about what is considered a high TSH level. Some think that 3.0 or higher is concerning, while others do not. I have a little more energy, although I am not sure if my body heat level has changed. Overall I don't seem to get as cold at night as I used to, however, I still have to wear a sweatshirt on most nights (even in hot weather) in order to go to sleep! I do not know of any adverse side effects to the supplements.

That sounds good. Congratulations! I hope that you are feeling much better. What does a reading of 2.67 mean? Where should the level be at normally? How do your supplements effect your energy levels and body heat regulation? Are there adverse side affects to supplements?
