My name is Rebecca and I was diagnosed with heart disease in December of 2007. Had it been easy to find a correct diagnosis, my story would end here. Unfortunately, as with many women, I was given wrong information and left untreated.
The first six doctors I visited were oblivious as to why a 34 year old woman would be experiencing chest pain. The pain wasn’t stress related, it wasn’t GERD. And it most certainly wasn’t in my head.
If this scenario sounds familiar, then we should converse amongst ourselves. : )
Women will continue to be misdiagnosed so long as they remain uninformed as to their condition.
A few questions for you. What have been your experiences with chest pain and your treating physician?
Were you misdiagnosed? If so, what have you done to fine the answers?
My sincere hope is that, through our experiences, others will be empowered to seek better advice and appropriate care.

Hi Rebecca -
December 4, 2009 - 6:49pmWelcome to our site. You bring in an important voice. For far too long women haven't had an equal shake when in comes to heart disease prevention, detection and treatment. This is starting to change, but has a very long way to go. We look forward to hearing more from you.
Take good care,
Pat

Thank you, Pat. First hand experience can be a cruel teacher. My hope is that others will learn from my mistakes. I believe that the more we talk about the nuances of heart disease, many more women will learn and take action. Sincerely, Rebecca
