Sometimes, we don’t really know how much healthier or stronger we are cause we don’t see it with the human eye.
Think about this…you like most are critiquing yourself in the mirror everyday and stepping on that scale everyday. Day by day you don’t notice any change in your body and the weight is not flying off.
Does this mean we are not seeing results from all the hard work and sweat?
Well you are! You just don’t always see it yourself in the mirror. This fitness thing and healthy lifestyle thing ain’t always about the weight loss you know. Results are not always measured by pounds. How about the fact that you can do double the amount of push ups you used to do, or you can go for a hike and carry those heavy bags without feeling like you’re gonna die. How about the fact that you completed some type of physical challenge that you worked for. Maybe your clothes are just fitting better and you dropped a size. Maybe you just received a good report from your doctor and got a clean bill of health.
What ever it is that pertains to you, just know that through your determination and dedication to this lifestyle of fitness changes are happening even if not noticed on a daily basis by you.
You see, I got into this business of fitness for a few reasons. Not only because it comes natural to me and I have the knowledge of exercise science and nutrition, but because I have a passion to see other people reach and exceed their physical capabilities.
Finally when you receive an email like this, it makes all the hard work and dedication so meaningful. I am grateful to be a part of this and so should everyone who embarks on a life of being fit and healthy. The following is the exact email I received a few days ago from my client Karen. She is 58 years old and rock-in it! But it takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears and results vary at times.
Subj: How do you know

My doctor tests – heart rate that of an athlete.
Blood work – couldn’t be any better.
People tell me, I look great in a golfing outfit! An all white golfing outfit, or rain gear….
People tell me that I am strong, based on how I was hitting golf balls. “Strong player…”
I played two days of golf, back to back, on very tough courses, and my body doesn’t hurt at all. Not at all! This after a workout and some cardio on the first day, then play 18 hard holes, then play again. And I can play all 18 holes (not like before when I did play and couldn’t move my arms for days, or craped out at 12 holes, or never could play back to back)
And on the second day of play, I played really well (with the help of a caddy) this after a day prior of hitting lots of shots.
Yep, sometimes, you just can’t see it outwardly……But change (good change) is there.
I wouldn’t be here without you. And I do need you. Keep me focused. Its working. I just always don’t see it. But I’m so much better off because of you.
So where ever you are on your path , stay the course and keep working hard! The results are there. Start focusing on the positive accomplishments or changes and less time staring at the scale!
