Hi there,
I stumbled across this website through fire fox and wound up here. Thought I would share my story. =)
I have ulcerative colitis. I am 18 years old and I think I have had it for a couple of years I was really sick for about a year but they couldn't figure out what was wrong.
I was in hospital a fair bit and missed out on excursions and avoided going out because of it. But I am over the worst and after many tests they came up with this. I had my Gall Bladder removed because they thought it was the cause and both my older Sister and Mum had Gall stones.
My sister has Irritable bowel syndrome. And my younger brother is having troubles with certain foods and complaining of diarrhea and a sore belly. And yet they say it isn't hereditary. Ha yeah right.
It's not the best thing to have but I am coping well and have found regular exercise eating well helps heaps.
Guess that's all.

Anon, welcome to Empowher, and thank you so much for sharing your story!
I'm very sympathetic that it's been a two-year search before you and your doctors figured out what was going on. But now that you have a diagnosis and are managing it well, I imagine your quality of life has changed immeasurably.
Can you tell us some of your coping tricks? Some of the specific things you do to keep yourself feeling great?
