Hi i am a 27 year old who suffered all of my teens with acne ranging from moderate to severe. In my early 20's after a 2nd or third round of accutane i finally found FREEDOM about a four year remission. Even during my 1st pregnancy my skin was beautiful, however for the past 2 years now i have battled yet again with moderate to sever acne, took a round of accutane again and this time the remission only last months! Also i have developed severe eczema on my hands only, the inflammation keeps getting worse when the weeping and cracking of eczema clears i am left with these huge red patches, worse yet my hands are so tight and swollen they hurt to bend. I am truly tire of just treating these skin symptoms i feel there is more to what is happening and need to know if anyone can help! Important to note among these symptoms, my periods have been irregular which seems to worsen acne, i am not abnormally hairy but i have noticed i have fine blond hair on my face. I'm am short in stature only 5ft and have suffered with kidney and blatter infections, i have also fluctuated hugely in weight most people 5 to 15lbs since teen i go down about 20 or 30lbs and then go up seems impossible to control. I know people suffer far worse disease but i feel like since these issues started with my skin i have put so much on hold due to self esteem and confidence...anybody care to help?

Thank you for the feedback, my next derm appointment is not until Dec. wonderful Canadian health care and ohip coverage has left me waiting since June this year until the end of December to get in, i have also asked for a referral to an allergist, to see if possible food sensitivities can be triggering my skin flare up but he too cannot see me until December. Through more and more of my own research i seem to think it's more of an immunilogical response to either food or hormone, it only makes sense to me since the issue is this prolonged. My cleansing habits are border line expert since i have battled this for so long, my household cleanliness is stringent ie: hypoallergenic/sensitive products only, bedding and pillow cases cleaned once a week etc... so it is only beginning to make more and more sense that this is something internally based...

Hi, Noone,
Welcome to EmpowHer, and thanks for your question. It's a tough one. I'm glad you found us; I hope someone who has experienced similar issues will see your question and have some ideas for you.
Has one of your dermatologists suggested you try an endocrinologist? Has she or he suggested that perhaps your skin problems are hormonally based?
