I am 72 years old, still have my uterus. It has now been 9 months since my last insertion of pellets. I have been bleeding for about 10 months now. For the last two months i only have spotting every day. God help me, I am starting to feel lousy again. Constipation, dry skin, upper beck pain, leg pain, and, vaginal dryness. It seems I have no good choices here Either I feel like crap or get the pellets and bleed every month.
November 21, 2010 - 9:19amThe Dr. said he would give me a lesser dose and maybe that would help. However, I have read that if you have a uterus you must take the progesterone and that will sluff the uterus and make you bleed. Any help here?

Hi tickytoo1938,
November 22, 2010 - 8:21amThank you for being a part of the EmpowHER community. I was going to say that perhaps it's time to go back to the doctor to have them assess your health, and verify this treatment is the best option for you. Then you said you already went to the doctor. Did the doctor mention any other treatment options for you? If you like how the pellets make you feel (apart from the bleeding), would you stay on that treatment? Side effects with this treatment are rare, according to what I've read online, and don't include what you mention. You may want to ask your doctor about those symptoms/concerns you are experiencing.
Here is our menopause treatment page, to help re-start the discussion with your doctor, just want to know your options and what you can do to try to improve your overall health:
Menopause Treatment
Good luck and let us know how else we may be able to help you.

This is annonymous from the Midwest again & my comment to women with bleeding issues is guess what? I now have to have a hysterectomy & it's my own fault for using those stupid pellets! Two D&Cs didn't work. My body goes through a creepy cycle now - I get 'menstrual cramps', have a period that lasts for 2 to 3 months, then it stops & I immediatly go to what would be mid cylce in a premenopausal existance, complete with intense sex drive & the discharge or 'spin'. That lasts a couple of weeks then it's back to the 'periods'. I crave chocolate again - lost interest in that after menopause but now I feel like I'm in constant chaos. My new doc said some women's bodies are just extremely sensitve to hormone therapy - it's like my ovaries were stimulated by the pellet therapy are now trying to wake up. And, I researched like crazy before I ever began using the pellets. Now I realize that of course the makers & proponents of the pellets are not going to say anything negative because they're trying to sell a product. I'm sure the pellets are fine for some women - I wish I was one of them. So, my total cost for the pellet therapy lesson? After the hysterectomy in December, I'll have paid over $6,000 (after insurance payments) in medical bills, not to mention the near $5,000 I put on my credit card from my testosterone induced spending spree - the stuff made me looney, made my hair fall out, & I had the concentration capacity of a gnat due to the insane sex drive. I wrote about this in previous posts earlier in the year & last year also. Good luck to those of you experiencing problems & for those who aren't, count your blessings.

Seniorsrock60 - First, what a great user name, much better than being anonymous from the Midwest. :-) Just wanted to thank you for your honest and candid feedback. It would have been nice if women's hormonal systems had gotten the study and attention they deserve decades ago and we all had solid information to use on our own behalf. Unfortunately we don't but thanks to people like you who are willing to share their personal experiences with others we are learning more each day. Good luck to you as you research information on hysterectomy. Let us know if we can help and be sure to check out the information on the site. There are also some very candid opinions and comments from other women on that topic.

Can you over dose on Sotto Pelle. I have had inserts every 5 or 6 months because I never want to go back to the way I felt before the Inserts. However, after the 2nd insertion II have a period every 15 days. Now wonder if I have overdosed??

Hi tickytoo1938,
October 20, 2010 - 12:47pmThanks for your question and for being a part of the EmpowHER community. This definitely sounds like a question for the prescribing doctor. Perhaps the amount you are taking is causing an imbalance in your system. Please contact you doctor, and follow-up with this thread to let everyone know your experience.
Good luck, we look forward to your update.

I had my first SottoPelle insertion in Feb. 09. It was fabulous. I began sleeping better and feeling younger in general. I began to look female again instead of matronly. It really affected my libido too. I had another insertion in Mar. 10 and in the second month I bled like a stuck pig. Call my doctor and she upped my progesterone to 200 mg per day. The bleeding finally stopped, but I still have some bleeding almost every day. I had the uterus ultrasound and my gp tells me everything is ok. I want to have the pellets inserted again, but this bleeding is driving me crazy. What do I do now?

Reply to Hazeray - I've posted periodically about my issues with Sotto Pelle. I too began bleeding like the proverbial stuck pig after 2nd insertion. I had a D&C but started bleeding 2 wks later. It finally stopped 3 months later only to begin again in another 2 months - this was nearly 1 YEAR since I'd had the 2nd pellet insertion! I had a 2nd D & C in June & began bleeding again in August. My gyno wants me to have a hysterectomy. I rue the day I decided to try those pellets!

Does anyone know a general practice doctor who does sotto pellets?. My insurance will cover it then. I live in Oakland NJ, I need them for thyroid and fibromyalgia, and the blood tests for this procedure.
