I wanted to share my story to see if someone else is out there that has the same issue or maybe can relate to this. I work in a place where there are several woman and men, it is pretty equal. Everyone tends to tell stories at work about what they did over the weekend or what that did in the evening after work. Well in my situation, I have been doing a lot of home makeover(ing).
I knocked down a wall and put in French doors, had to drywall and Spackle around the door, paint the kitchen since I now have new doors, etc. I am sure you understand my point. Lots of work. The women I talk to have since made a fan club because they think I am a Superwoman! I go to school, work two jobs and still have time to remodel. I don't sleep much, ha ha!
I guess my issue with being a Superwoman is that I am a single woman. I think I tend to be a male ego killer when it comes to things I know and the abilities I have with intelligence, blue collar work and just in essence the idea I have in my head that I can do things that most women probably could do but maybe don't want to do.
Am I alone?
When it comes to the men I work with, they want to move into my house and sit on the couch while I do everything.....Is it a bad thing to know how to do so much? When I start dating again, is this what I should expect men to think they can do? I am wondering if someone can give me some advise. What kind of vibes am I setting off here and how can I change this so that men will not take advantage of me as a superwoman?
