I have heard of so many parent's fears, and most recently Jenny McCarthy's plea, of (not) vaccinating your children. I have always been a believer in having my child vaccinated, as it is undisputed that vaccines have saved lives and prevented morbidity and mortality from numerous diseases.
However...
There is a dispute when it comes to the ingredients in vaccines. If I can buy organic dish soap, why do I not have the choice for my son to have an organic vaccine? Why do vaccines still contain mercury and other known carcinogens?
We can debate endlessly about the decline of medical and/or pharmaceutical morals and their quest for money and profits. I have no interest in that discussion.
I do have an interest in learning what we can do, as an online women's wellness community, to start a productive discussion on HOW organic vaccines can become mainstream. Are they even created yet? Would organic vaccines be the answer to parent's concerns between the link with vaccines and autism?
Lastly, the schedule of vaccines for our infants and toddlers can be discussed: is it necessary for these young children to have 25 shots before their 2nd birthday? What if these shots were spaced out more: what are the pros and cons?
I would love to hear your productive thoughts on the topics above: how can we make vaccines safer for those of us who do want our children protected, but are concerned about the other ingredients and additives? How can we, as "empowhered" women and men, encourage the creation and widespread distribution of organic vaccines?

We can start by contacting Merck and other vax manufacturer's and seeing if they have a scientific reasoning for the lack of an organic vaccine. Or if the reasoning is strictly money related-- which it could very well be.
I wouldn't hesitate and cringe as much as I do every time my son gets injected with those ghastly carcinogens. I have a nephew with autism so, in my eyes, my children will never get more than 2 vaccines at a time.
I would love to see the day when vaccines can be trusted and our parents wouldn't be so terrified to have to give their child something that is supposed to protect them, not harm them.

Alison - Good question! I'd like to see a lot more research into vaccines, both for children and adults. In reading the many, and continuing, comments from people who've had severe pain for months after receiving the H1N1 vaccine I think we need to better understand exactly what ingredients are in the vaccines, and to provide more information to consumers. We are so on the same page, can't believe somebody hasn't come out with something. If about half of Americans aren't getting the flu shots and many many parents refuse to let their kids be vaccinated, that seems like an enormous untapped market, and rather than forcing or insisting on selling the current vaccines, why isn't there some morally decent company willing to start developing something? The reason we can buy organic produce is because there is consumer demand, and it would seem that there IS consumer demand since many are afraid to put known poisons in their kids. Get with it America before someone else does elsewhere!
