Hi! I'm new to this site. I came across while researching urethral diverticulum and was so glad I found this site. There aren't many sites out there with women that have this condition.
I was diagnosed soon after I gave birth to my second daughter in 2011 during my post delivery checkup. I was referred to a urologist whom at the time suggested surgery. I decided not to have surgery since I was not suffering any symptoms at the time. I was to routinely follow-up with my urologist which, regretfully I didn't. I began experiencing pain during sex and pressure in the vagina and other symptoms which I can share later if you like, the last 2 weeks. I saw my OB/GYN today and she did not see anything wrong other than the diverticulum mass. But I have made an appointment for a check up with my urologist next week to have it evaluated. I pray that this has not grown out of control or worse yet be cancer, I read that there's always that small but rare chance.
In any case, I'm hoping to find other women that can share what their post surgery recovery was like and what I'm to expect, no matter how unpleasant it was! I'm sure my urologist will discuss this with me but I'm also hoping to hear your personal experiences. What was your pain level, was catheter left in place and how long, were you able to sit and move and walk. What can I expect when I awake in the recovery room. How long did it take you to recover in general. I know everyone is different and they recover at their own pace.
I'm very scared of surgery and the procedure itself. It sounds so painful (I know I will be sedated).
Thank you again and I apologize for the long post!
