How much water did you drink today? And no, coffee, soda, and tea don’t count. I personally recommend drinking up to one quart of water from a pure source per day for optimal health. Below are a few tips to help encourage you to drink more water, including when, and at what temperature.

1. Add lemon to your water every morning

The best way to start your day is with a slice of lemon and hot water, a simple way to start the detoxification process. The lemon in water helps detoxify and refresh the body after sleeping during the night. It can also help cleanse blood, the liver and kidneys.

2. Make sure you're getting the right amount of water for your body weight

It's important to drink the right amount of water every day. For optimal results, I recommend drinking a minimum of one quart of water per 150 pounds or 68 kg of body weight per day. Benefits of getting enough water include balancing the body's fluids, hydrating your skin, controlling calorie intake, improving productivity and fatigue, and fueling muscles.

3. Drink water before and after eating to help with digestion

Drink water thirty minutes before or after meals, since water may dilute stomach fluids needed for digestion. Limited sips (4 oz.) during meal time will not interfere with digestion. Drinking water helps flush toxins out of the body and regulate overall digestion.

4. Drink water at the right temperature

Drink water that is room temperature, before or after meals, and don't drink water that has not been purified.

5. Drink water regularly to improve bowel movements

Regular bowel elimination two hours after a meal is normal. Constipation is a sign of poor function. Drink your water and eat fiber. Dehydration can lead to constipation so it is very important to drink enough water.
