Dr. Schwartz explains how often LASIK corrective eye surgery is successful.

The best answer is usually. When you ask, will you be able to see without your glasses after the LASIK procedure, usually you will – not 100%. Anybody who is guaranteeing you 100% for the result, that can’t be. You need to think hard before that.
The LASIK is wonderful, but in its best with the CustomVue™ and the iris registration you are talking, 97% in my practice don’t need touch ups. Well translating, you need three percent do. If you’re doing 200 procedures a month, well now you have six of them that need to come back and have it done every single month. That’s a real number; it does happen. So there are patients who need touch ups.
There are also some patients for whom a touch up isn’t safe and, you know, whenever I am able to tell patients ahead of time that I think they are only going to be able to have one procedure done, I try to do that before they have their original procedure so they know if they fall into that three percent that they may not be able to have a second one.

28,000 LASIK surgeries is one big number. Although not that experienced, I’m happy with my eye surgeon over at See by Intravision ( http://seebyiv.com ) nearby in Stoney Creek where I got my lasik. never knew Jay L. Schwartz was the ophthalmologist for the Phoenix Suns though!
