I totally empathize with you. I am older (67) but at age 47 I was forced to "retire" from work I loved but could no longer do because of pain, physical and mental. I have fibromyalgia and it took 3 years to get a diagnosis. There really is no definitive tests but if you have some chronic underlying viral antibodies that I one thing that helped the doctors decide, for me, that it was fibromyalgia. I also has a number of abnormal tests, including 13 positive trigger points out of the 18. I also have degenerative disc disease and MG and CFS so it has been a trial sorting everything out. It has been one diagnosis after another that I am now afraid to go to the doctor! All I can offer, is moral support. There are some good pain specialists out there that specialize in fibromyalgia. It would be good if you could google a doctor in your area. He or she will be a big asset to you. It took me 2 years to convince my PCP to refer me to a pain specialist, but he finally did and I will never be sorry. He has been a huge help in the chronic pain and fatigue. I also have a awesome neurologist who understands. As far as getting disability, that could be a stickywicket. I was fortunate in that I got my disability within 3 months of filing, but I have had friends who needed a lawyer and many doctors in order to get theirs. Good luck with that.
