100-Calorie Snack Packs

Rate This

One of the lectures I went to at the ACSM conference was about snacking. The entire time I was thinking about Fit Diva Jill because the speaker was totally dogging the 100-calorie snack packs and Jill is also not a fan of the 100-calorie snack packs. Why? Because they are full of empty calories.

If you want a good snack, try choosing foods that have more nutrients, such as yogurt or a piece of fruit with a few almonds. The other problem with the snack packs are people tend to eat more than one pack, which defeats the purpose.

I agree that the 100 calorie snack pack is just a waste of calories.
My favorite website for learning about how to replace junk food with nutritious snacks is

I hope this is helpful.

I agree.Although I think that the 100 calorie snack packs were created mainly for the person who is dieting and can't seem to kick their junk food habit. Rather than to "relapse" into a junk food binge, the snack option is available.

Yes, they are empty calories-- but some people just cannot force themselves to have an apple (or raw veggies with humus, hehe). Unfortunately it's difficult to kick the poor eating habits and adapt new ones. But I'd rather see the person who every so often indulges in 100 calorie snack packs than the one who binge eats and is 100 lbs overweight. Empty calories or not, it is still a preferable choice to what could potentially be a nasty diet relapse.

It's amazing what comes in 100 calorie packs, now, including Fig Newtons and popcorn. I think it's so true, though, that people can trick themselves into thinking it's okay to indulge a little more than usual because, after all, each pack is "only 100 calories."

Right.

Well, I'm with you on preferring fruit, or even raw veggies with humus, to the snack packs.

P.S. To Susan - BTDT with my braces, my vice was popcorn, lol!
