Registered Dietitian Elizabeth Somer recalls the treatment for gluten intolerance.
Registered Dietitian Elizabeth Somer:
Once you have been identified and clinically diagnosed with the problem, this one is relatively easy, is you just avoid foods that have gluten in them. So that means all wheat products. It means possibly oats, especially if they are manufactured in the same factory where wheat is, barley, and any other grain that has the gluten in it. You just sidestep that by using, for instance, rice products instead to get your carbohydrate.
