Asian Ginseng: Healing Herb

Asian ginseng is a medicinal herb that has been used in healing a variety of ills for centuries in China and Korea. It has a reputation for increasing overall stamina and endurance.

Asian ginseng increases mental and physical performance. It is used to treat hepatitis C, menopause symptoms and erectile dysfunction. Asian ginseng lowers blood glucose and regulates blood pressure. It can increase a sense of well-being.

Asian ginseng may enhance the immune system. Research is pursuing the possibility that Asian ginseng may be useful in treating Alzheimer's disease, cancer and insulin resistance.

"The root of Asian ginseng contains active chemical components called ginsenosides (or panaxosides) that are thought to be responsible for the herb’s medicinal properties. The root is dried and used to make tablets or capsules, extracts, and teas, as well as creams or other preparations for external use."

Asian ginseng is also known as Chinese ginseng, Korean ginseng and Asiatic ginseng. Its Latin name is Panax ginseng.
