Joan describes the pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) symptoms she currently experiences.
Joan:
If I walk very fast, climb a hill, I get out of breath but it is not fatal. You could even pass out. At that point in time they said, you know, “If someone sees you, have them called 911” – I am really basically symptom-free.
If you notice when I talk for a very long period of time I do kind of run out of breath. So that is basically the only symptom that I’ve had.
If you have a lung biopsy, I can tell you that is a horrible surgery to have. They go in through two places in your back and one under your arm and you end up with sometime what they call pinch nerves. So you get a lot of pain from the pinched nerve but symptoms, other than running out of breath a little bit, I am symptom-free. I am so blessed.
